Amanda Schaap

Licensed Professional Counselor

Amanda earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Christopher Newport University and her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. She has extensive experience working in both outpatient and inpatient acute care settings, where she has supported individuals through a wide range of mental health challenges. Amanda is passionate about creating a warm, compassionate, and safe environment where clients can feel heard and supported in their therapeutic journey. She believes that a trusting, collaborative relationship is a powerful agent for healing and works closely with her clients to help them achieve their goals. While she naturally operates from a biblical worldview integrating faith in counseling, Amanda gladly meets all clients where they are.

Amanda is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and has a particular passion for working with individuals seeking recovery from trauma, anxiety, depression, perfectionism, self-esteem struggles, relationship issues, and spiritual concerns. She considers it an honor to witness the courage and resilience of those she works with and to walk alongside them on their unique paths to find meaning, growth, and acceptance.

When she’s not working, Amanda enjoys reading a good book, sipping coffee, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and their dog, Lilo.
