Katrina Slagle
Founder / Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Katrina is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a commitment to helping individuals achieve mental wellness. Her 32-year journey in healthcare has shown her that a holistic approach to mental health is essential. Katrina has extensive training in comprehensive psychiatric assessments, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based treatment of mental disorders using medications if indicated but also strives to work with patients and families to identify other interventions that maybe helpful in managing psychiatric problems. Katrina integrates evidence-based, healthy lifestyle interventions including nutrition, exercise, sleep, risk reduction of substance use, stress management, spirituality and healthy interpersonal relationships into the overall treatment of common psychiatric conditions.
Katrina received her nursing degree from Radford University, and her master’s degree from The University of Virginia. She has more than three decades of nursing experience and is a former United States Navy Nurse Corps Officer. She has had the privilege of caring for patients in multiple specialty areas including public health, inpatient, residential and outpatient community mental health, and in care management. As the portfolio director of nursing and housing services for Central Virginia Community Services, Katrina supervised nursing care delivery in group homes and intermediate care facilities, outpatient mental health clinics, the Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT), residential crisis stabilization and detoxification programs, and the outpatient suboxone treatment clinic.
Outside the office, Katrina enjoys spending time with family, traveling, connecting with her church and outdoor adventures with her beloved goldendoodle, Molly.
